Premier League Champions Outplay Brighton at Etihad
Manchester City cruised to a 4-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, moving within one point of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table. Julian Alvarez led the line for City, supported by Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, and Jeremy Doku.
Dominant Display from City
City dominated the match from the start, taking an early lead through Alvarez. The Argentine striker scored again in the second half, while Silva, Foden, and Grealish also got on the scoresheet.
Brighton pulled one back through Leandro Trossard, but City were too strong on the day. The win extends City's unbeaten run in the Premier League to four matches, while Brighton's winless streak continues to six.
Guardiola Pleased with Performance
City manager Pep Guardiola was pleased with his team's performance, saying:
"We played very well today. We controlled the game and created a lot of chances. We could have scored more goals, but I'm happy with the performance."
De Bruyne and Haaland Injured
However, Guardiola was concerned about the injuries to Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, who were both forced off in the first half. De Bruyne suffered a muscle injury, while Haaland sustained a knock to his ankle.
The extent of the injuries is not yet known, but Guardiola will be hoping that they are not serious. City will need all their players fit if they are to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
