The 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony was filled with memorable moments. Some said the performance appeared to resemble the biblical scene portrayed in Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper." The skit in question took place toward the end of the four-hour opening ceremony which wound throughout Paris on the Seine River. While many said it resembled the Last Supper the official Olympics account said it was an interpretation of a Greek God.
The performance, which featured drag queens, has drawn backlash from conservative leaders. Some say the performance was inappropriate for a family-friendly event. Others say it was a celebration of diversity and inclusivity. The controversy has sparked a debate about the role of religion in the Olympics.
